Title: Just bought Yam SRX400
Post by: mwbaldwin on May 18, 2012, 03:05:42 PM
Hi Everybody

What is the best silencer to give a bit more oomph to my new toy?

Any other suggestions regarding carb modifications?

Thanks

Mark - Dorking (near Box Hill)

Try a bigger engine,  the 600 drops in no trouble.

The 400 is a sweet engine... bullet proof... it has all the same bottom end as the 600... you can add a pair of CR33's and a predator exhaust... both fairly simple to fit.... you'll get a bit more oomph and it'll sound good, i think the 400 revs more freely than the 600, and although down on power, is still happy galloping along at 75 - 80 all day... and with the front sprocket taken out to the largest possible (14 t i think), it becomes a very nice bike.

Steve,
I agree with everything you said about the 400, gawd knows I have had enough of them. Also there is definately enough room put a 15t sprocket on the front....my hybrid had one on for over 2 years  in virtually standard trim and will have another one when its finished! I think a bit more development went into the 400 for the home market. Although someone will no doubt come along and let me know otherwise.
