Hi there all. I want to paint my brake caliper as i am board of the gold ones that are on the bike. What is the best stuff to use? I know I need HT Paint but i do not know what is best brand of paint for this can some one help point me in the right way :D

I've used Sperex VHT paints before with good results. I think you can still get stainless brake piston kits from Wemoto which stops the usual pitting.
-
Painting isnt the problem...its just that brake fluid is a pretty good paint stripper!!
So you need to make sure that none gets onto your efforts

Never bothered with high temp paint... calipers on srx's just don't get that hot... if they did your fluid would be boiling.
I use smooth hammerite spray... always worked ok for me... and it has a certain tolerance to hydraulic fluid.

Thanks for that tip Steve...I will try it on the rebuilt Hybrid!

Hi there Steve just a quick question do you use a primer?
-
You dont normally need a primer for Hammerite paints
-
Ok thank you Ian :)

Sorry Ian,
Best to use a primer if it is aluminium! You can get a reaction from the aluminium and the Hammerite, bubbles and then flakes off. Doesn't adhere as well as to clean iron oxide.

Clue was in the word "normally" Bill...my apologies ;D
-
No apologies required Ian.
I'm just being a pedantic old >>>>>>>>>>>>>! :-X

I'd say use a good etching primer....unless hammerite do a primer.... not sure, don't think i have ever used primer.... it may depend on the actual alloy
