Title: decompression cable
Post by: guest668 on March 16, 2012, 07:19:56 AM
decompression cable is off bike needs replacing ...is it ok to run bike without it whilst it isnt on or will it damage the lifter ? this is probably a stupid question but was just wondering

No problem. When the engine's running, of course the valve lifter's inactive. Doesn't matter whether the cable's there or not. On the other hand, if it's there and maladjusted, it can ruin a valve.

I have two 2nd hand cables that you are welcome to have for the price of postage if you want. Im sure either one of them will do the job.

Make sure the lifter lever on the cylinder head has the spring fitted, without it the lever floats around and can hit the rocker arm
