Title: Availability of parts SRX400
Post by: guest1350 on August 05, 2011, 01:52:45 PM
Ref SRX400

I will for now fix my gear return issue with a couple of springs mounted externally. But come the cold days of winter I will take the bike apart to get to fix it properly.

What worries me is getting hold of the stuff like gaskets, lock tabs etc. Are they hard to obtain?

A lot of engine parts are still available especially as Yamaha fit lots of parts to lots of bikes. Some cycle parts are "unobtanium" but there are still a few second hand ones available from breakers (esp D&K at Newcastle under Lyme). I have not had problems that I couldnt overcome as yet! Any Yamaha dealer will (should) be able to get hold of the parts you need. You will however need part numbers which is not a problem in this club. I have parts lists for the twin shock and the monoshock 400/600s. If I dont have the number you need then Steve H will probably be able to fill in any gaps.

Hope this helps

Ian :)

If it isn't to far away from you Granbys' in Ilkeston have parts microfiche so you wouldn't have to track down part numbers, they also benefit from knowing what you are talking about if you say srx to them unlike most Yamaha dealers who just give you a blank look and ask what make it is ::)

The bloke who used to work for them in the shop in Hyson Green must have left then.I went in there once only to be told ''I hope you don't want much,I am busy''.The salesman there at the time was as bad.I went in to look at a VFR750,stood there in the shop, bloke looked at me but never even got out of his chair in his office to see what I wanted.

apart from the head and barrel base gaskets (wrong diameter) most srx6 gaskets will work on the '4',  the gear lever return springs will be the same as well
