Title: XBR high bars - top tip for the DIM!
Post by: BrendanO on March 23, 2011, 09:05:37 PM
Finally got round to putting CBX550 bars on, very subtle difference, not sure yet whether it'll be enough. However, you get about 30 degrees of rotational adjustment so I'm playing with that. I suppose it also keeps a vaguely standard look...

TOP TIP FOR THE STUPID FOLK (ahem):

For a while, it appeared that I'd have to pull out and reroute all the wiring in the headlight, and that might not be enough to get the extra length for higher bars. This XBR is totally factory, wiring has never been disturbed, so I wasn't relishing being the one to spoil it.
And then it dawned on me... Loosen the headlight brackets, and slide them up the yokes!

Now I know this is obvious for almost all of you, but since I nearly DIDN'T realise it, I'm posting it here <red face>

did you get away with using the standard choke cable? Mine's really short even with standard bars.

YES! I was expecting to have tyo get a new choke made up, but I found that taking it off at the hbar end, running it outside the fork leg, and setting the L-shaped metal tube at an appropriate angle is fine! I do have a loose cable tie holding the cable to the fork leg.
