Title: Sealed vs oldie stylee batteries
Post by: guest7 on January 21, 2011, 07:06:44 PM
I can understand that charging a sealed battery from zero may be different to charging up the more traditional lead acid jobs, but is there really any difference in the charging circuits of bikes with one as opposed to the other?

I thought it would be typical to get a reading of about 14v at the battery when the bike is running on either type. What else would be different?

I know the battery construction is different, but I just can't see (as I have sometimes been told) that there is any difference in the charging rate between bikes fitted with conventional batteries and those fitted with sealed. In fact I'd have thought that the batteries are interchangeable for most standard bikes.

The battery is just a storage device after all.

Thoughts?
