Title: Big Show 2007
Post by: Bruce on January 08, 2007, 08:22:32 PM
I presume due to what happened at last years BMF show that the Club will not be attending again has there been any thoughts or suggestions about another show ?

I think it was generally agreed that a BMF-type show wasn't really what we were about.  I was put off the year before after being told of security issues and that after stumping up the dosh!  Just a suggestion mind, and it's not really all that far away, but how about an ad-hoc meet-up at the Vic Biker's pub in Coalville?  It might be a bit empty if all the locals decant to P'boro that weekend.  Or perhaps a meet somewhere else in the Midlands....Worcester or Stratford-on-Avon?

The Midlands ?
Why ?
When ?

Does this mean I've got to fix my bike ?

I have previously organised 'mini-gatherings' in the Peak District, and not having done it last year I was going to revive it for 2007. As we are disassociating ourselves from the BMF I could easily arrange it for that weekend. Any thoughts?

In the past I have used a very nice site at a pub in Wetton called the Royal Oak (they have a web site). I will check if that weekend is available and post it on the forum asap. If its already booked, being its very popular with climbers, I have an alternative near to Carsington Water (and not surprisingly thats next to a pub, The Knockerdown, as well!).

If there is any sort of approval it also means I will have to sort my bike fairly swiftly.............bugger!!!!!!

I was going to say tentative but based on my attendance record last year its more like a 'I'd like to but will fail miserably to turn up'

the BMF show is in P'boro..........and norfolk is only 30 miles up the road........and I know a pub (well, i actually know several) where they'd love to , (and frequently do) put up bikers in their campsite, and from there we could  ( or, to be more precice, i could) organise some trips out to, say Hunstanton, where loads of bikers congregate at weekends, just 'cos its there, and various other places of interest, which i'm sure i can sort out between now and then, great roads, nice people, great pubs.................just a thought
pip pip

'bout time you lot (well, most of you) ventured across the fens...passports not required..

See my earlier post :-) If it's around May(ish) I should be there. Must admit, I've never been to the fens before, well for pleasure anyway, so might be nice to see somewhere new ;-)

Somebody organise something! don't be shy.

Just seen a post by Gordon our newest racer and wondered SteveL, could you arrange a camping weekend around a race meeting?? We could cheer on the idiots (oops, sorry, I mean brave souls) and help them collect all the broken bits of their bikes before hitting the pub to talk of what might have been. Sounds like a laugh and it would be good to support thumper racing. Andy230, what do you reckon?? Anyone else got a view?? I think most of the racing is done in your neck of the woods isn't it??
Just a thought, I'll shut up now.

If there's race at Cadwell May'ish that would do the trick. Cadwell is by far the best circuit in the UK and we can even camp there!

Will still investigate something for the Peak District and then we are sure to have plenty to do/choose from.

Come on then Pat isn't it time for your first of the year breakfast. I vote for a shed meet at Pat's house really really soon. My stroker needs a good run

If you want a run, your welcome anytime :-) As for a shed meet, I'll put one on if there's enough interest. Who's up for a meet after the Dragon?? (i can't do anything this side of Feb sorry)

Woooo!!  Lots of things going on today!  I like it.  Even better cos my gaffer's off and I can spend more time twatting around on t'interweb.   :)

Right then:

No, dont mate, keep rabbitting on!  This is great!  The Supermono's are brilliant bikes, really top class racers (just look at their sites... ulp!), beautiful prototype kit (Tigcraft minimonos), inventive engineering etc.  The class would love the support.

Obviously the race meetings are not just singles (although generally they tend to be the longest races).  125s, 250s, Sound of thunder (singles twins triples- ooow!  Nice noise!), 400 600 production classes etc.  So for those who havent been, your 10/12 quid or so gate entry gets you a full days racing (10-30 till 5).  I know its a bit of an undertaking, tracks by there nature are in the middle of nowhere, and generally there is travel involved.  And it will quite possibly be wet.  But bring raincoat, a flask, & your own sarnies and you wont spend a fortune at the burger vans.  Also, the kettle is always boiling in the "Ambulance Hospitality Suite".  Free tea and coffee to those over 70, on production of a valid membership card, when accompanied by both parents...

Race dates are not yet finalised.  Tentatively, we start at brands hatch on the 14/15 April, but this is still provisional.  They shift round due to motogp, bsb, wsb, etc dates.  I will post as soon as the dates are finalised.

Guys, try to keep the interest up!  :)   Camping at Cadwell would be nice for a weekend, and there are lovely roads round SteveL's neck of the woods (Snetterton).

Cheers for now!

I'm in agreement with Andy, if I'm there (at the race meetings) then my set up will be open house, (might even be a bit of accommodation if the weather turns nasty), but drinks & a few snacks will be available to those who choose to support us. In fact, you will find a warm welcome from all the monoists in the paddock!

may see a few of you there then, cheers, John g
