All the left over bits are free to a good home.

well, it can be done....and there is a pic on here somewhere.... I saw the bike at the annual gathering at Baskerville Hall a few years back.
SteveH may know what/where/who
What bits will you have left over?
(i think there are issues with the chain line..and squeezing in the radiator)

I've not done this myself but have spoken to a Pascal from the Dutch MonoConnection that has successfully done this conversion.
My understanding is
- The engine mounts line up but you may need to bush the upper rear one.
- The electrics are completely different, the easiest approach would probabaly be an SZR/Muz Skorpion/XTZ harness, complete with CDI, reg/rec etc.
- Carbs are further apart so you will need SZR/XTZ items and wont fit airbox.
- The SRX oil tank will be in the way of the starter motor, SRX600 monoshock or SZR oil tank should work, (Pascal modified his)
- Chain alignment, the sprocket extends 10mm further out than the SRX, this cause wheel alignment and issues and the chain runs very close to the frame, apparently the XT600 has a dished front sprocket which can be reversed, the bolts holding the seal retainer will also need machining
- the right hand downtube will need to be modified to clear the water pump
- mechanical rev counter drive will need to be fitted to head if you want to keep the SRX clocks.
- Exhaust - not sure I think Pascal modified an SRX exhaust to fit.
- Need to find space for a radiator/thermostat

I was thinking of doing a similar hybrid but Im not so sure now....I was going to use an XT660 engine or I suppose that an MT-03 engine(if one can be found but probably at a price). Im still open to options but I think I may get a frame off beeman and "go with the flow". I learnt a lot of lessons putting the electric start 400 engine into the twin shock frame and for me that was one hell of a hill to climb. I may take the easy route, but it depends on what I can scrounge or otherwise procure.
Hands are itching now lads and lassies,
Any surplus parts glady accepted Eveder.

srx exhaust will not fit as the exhaust on the szr comes out at an angle as opposed to straight on an srx. i only know this cos i bought an szr exhaust for a srx project and thay wouldnt fir my srx lump. on the plus side standard szr headers should be ideal for waht you need and sorry i dont have them any more.

I haven't forgotten the frame just soooooooooo busy. will try to get at it tomorrow. phone me on 07861310139, leave a message if I don't answer, as I am on "lates" this week.
beeman.
PS can you tell I'm in the communications centre triaging 999 E calls.

It can be done although I never understood the reason why one would when you can pick up a Skorpion for so little these days?

I like minimal stuff... 2 wheels, 1 or 2 cylinders etc, preferably air cooled & naked 8) ;D
Yet to see a really tidy water into air chassis job. Always bits sticking out.. :'( :(
