Any news on whats happening (or not) with the upcoming VJMC Show at Uttoxeter; it's only three weekends away?
Are we having a stand or just meeting at the campsite?
Are there free tickets or do we need to book our own?
Any information would be useful...........

Be careful Boyd !
You offer to Help, give up your free time or time off from work.
Some might think you are joking especially if you have a small one on offer !
On top of that you still dont get a reply untill after the event. :-\

Yes, sorry, been meaning to type something about this, but my slightly frenetic lifestyle of late has been distracting me.
Yes we have a stand, no we haven't got any firm numbers or even bikes lined up.
So... who would like to show their bike on the club stand? It means free weekend tickets and the show is really good fun.
In line with the discussion following last year's show I don't think we have to make a big effort, just turn up and have fun.
I will be bringing club banners and my GB, along with all the usual club stand stuff. I will also bring my big tent for us to use as a mess tent if the weather gets nasty.
We had a nice relaxed event last year so let's see if we can repeat the experience.

I would like the opportunity to show my SRX "hybrid" if ok with you Graham?
Ian :)
-
So that seems like at least three bikes. Does it mean that bikes will be on a stand Sat & Sun? Not a problem either way just need to know.
GC if there are 'free' weekend tickets can you make sure that they are sent out well in advance especially if there are enough spare for the lads from NI! I'll definitely be there as it's only just up the road from me.
Boyd

May have my Rs available though don't know at this time if I will join it. Will confirm soonest.
That will make four bikes.
Rob.

I think you have to leave the bikes there on Friday night and pick them up on Sunday after the show but Graham will no doubt correct me if Im wrong

Security were quite relaxed last year, as long as you could establish that the bike was yours and pushed it around they let us take ours about 5.30pm on Saturday (we had a VOC rally on Sunday at Stanford Hall) and put them on the stand late Friday night. A really nice, relaxed, fun show.
Furry

I'll be there on the Friday night on the SRX, as long as I can sort out how to carry everything ;) We took the car last year for all the camping gear, but Sue's got cats and hens to look after this time, so I'll be on my own.
Looking forward to this one...
Trevor
-
Yep, as Furry said, it's a relaxed show so we can (probably) wheel bikes on and off the stand outside of the preferred hours if we have to.
They gave us a heap of tickets last year, but I will have to get the bike list to them first before they issue them.
So far,
GC - GB500
Boyd - bike?
Trevor - SRX
Ian - SRX hybrid
Rob - CB250RS
Can peeps PM me fuller details of the bikes they want to show?
Anyone in touch with Bruce? It would be good to have his Norton there again.
GC
-
GC- any freebee tickets for the non show bike people? ???
Cheers
John
-
Yes, almost certainly, but as I say I won't know how many until I've submitted the bike list.
As you're the first to ask you're the first on the list.
GC
-
Thanks
:D
-
If the bike is back on the road... maybe.... ???
-
GC,
I'll bring an Enfield or SRX, Ifor will bring his old Norton 16h and I'll probably get an Armstrong(Harley) Rotax there.

Greetings from a new member. I'll be honest and say that I only joined the forum originally because I couldn't locate an email address for anyone in the club, but after digressing to the forum for a while, you have a pretty good bunch of folks on here.........
Right, creeping done with, and what I wish to enquire about relates to Uttoxeter. I am in the South Staffs Section of the VJMC, and we are next to yours at the forthcoming show, exactly as we were last year. I boosted your funds no end last year by buying a couple of T-shirts. Do you have any more that you can bring? I'm after two in large (or XL) with the XT500 on the front.
If I tell you that I have an XT500 and a Honda XBR500, do I get a discount........? ;D ;D
Look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks. I'll be the one without a shirt on (waiting for one from you!)
-
T-shirt stocks are a bit low atm, I have to do an inventory soon anyway so I will let you know if we have those shirts in the right sizes.
We may be reprinting the bike drawing shirts, I just need to do a test run on the new process we intend using, to see if it is as durable as the traditional screen-printed version.

I have submitted a list of bike entrants to the VJMC. I have Ifor, Mark, Trevor, Ian, Boyd and me. Have I missed anyone?
The tickets are on their way so I will send out those required by the entrants and see how many are left over for handing out to club members.
GC

The tickets are on their way
To you or to us? Entrants, and others attending, will need them by next Thursday at the latest!
Boyd

Which calendar are you using, Boyd? There's still 2 weeks to go, isn't there?
See you there - I'll be the one trying to work out how to put up his brand new tent, and use the stove. ;D
Trevor
-
Just out of interest, how many tickets does the Thumpers Club get allowed per bike from the VJMC? (I'm not after any by the way, as I already have some)

Sorry about the confusion. My son is flying to Australia next weekend, and as he will be there for twelve months its a bit chaotic here! We already have moves afoot to rent his room out (again).........
Ooh! A new stove to play with.......goody, goody!!!!!!

Where will the stand be (what plot no.?) as myself & Simon will be plot 95 (next to the first aid centre) & if I can squeeze some time, would like to pop over & say hello! ;)

Sorry lads, been off my feet with work for the last week or so (12 hour days etc.)
The tickets are in envelopes and being posted recorded delivery tomorrow morning.
In addition we have five spare tickets and vehicle passes (for cars, vans, etc.) but only one motorcycle pass left. I imagine you can get in on a bike with a vehicle pass, especially if you are just are just a visitor (and not an exhibitor).
First come first served and all that. Of course it would be better if the ticket goes to a definite attendee instead of a maybe.
Cheers
GC

Update, 4 spare tickets.
GC
-
I will not be in attendance. :-[

You will be missed Steve :(
GC

Anyone else for tickets? I'm guessing that Weds will be the latest I can safely post them out.
And if anyone from South Wales is interested, there's a spare seat in the old Carrick van leaving Cardiff Friday morning and returning Sunday evening.
GC

Hi #1, If you still have a ticket going spare, I'll take one. I intend to pop down on Saturday, but must leave by 3pm.....my little mate is 3 on Saturday and the party is at 4pm......doesn't time fly.
Dave
ps.....same address

If you have a spare then I'm probabaly going to go up for one of the days
Steve
-
It looks like I will have a spare ticket - I asked Graham to send one for me and one for my son, but it doesn't look like he'll be able to get as his bike is kaput.
It will be too late to post it, but if you turn up over the weekend and give me a bell, I'll bring it to the gate.

Has the club been allocated a camping pitch or do we just go where we want? If its choose your own I'll try and get there fairly early to put my coat and jumper on the same spot we had last year. It is basically to the right as you come in right on the rail of the racetrack, in front of a small cricket pavillion (which is outside the track). Look out for a long flag pole with a Welsh flag on the end and maybe a trianglar pennant!!!!

Ok Boyd, will search you out when we get there. Hopefully by 4pm.

What's the betting a Norwegian flag will be flying when we get there? And who will adopt the Captain Oates role? In times past it would have been Steve D. He'd say "I'm going outside" and he wouldn't return... generally because he'd fallen over/into something ;) :D
No specified camping area Boyd so 'cricket pitch corner' should be our target. I think I will drive straight to the camping area, put up my big tent and then ferry the stuff across to the stand. Last year I arsed about trying to park next to the marquee and it all got a bit stressful.
I'm hoping to leave Cardiff by 10 so I should be there early afternoon (best laid plans and all that). As an aside, Gareth is coming in the camper he has recently converted from a lacklustre builder's van. It is a fantastic job and looks just like a professional conversion, it's well worth a look if you are at the show.

Site update - I got a phone call from Rick Sharp tonight and he is already at the site and has bagged the camping spot!
As Boyd said, head for the section of fence nearest the cricket pavilion and we will be camped out there.

Assuming I manage to pack and assuming nothing goes wrong at work and assuming my fuel line holds together and assuming I can find the new local delivery office and manage to collect my ticket( :o ) I shall be leaving around 4ish on an unfaired MZ... so it'll probably be raining* ::) lol
I would expect I'll join you all around the back of nine, ten-ish (ish!)

LOL, what could possibly go wrong? ;)
If you fail to get your ticket then just ring me when you get to the site and I will come out to the gate with the one spare ticket that I have left.
Phone number is 07866 525054
