Title: Classic Bike Show, Stafford, April '10
Post by: guest7 on November 09, 2009, 07:10:45 PM
We have been invited to attend the April CB show. We haven't done this show before, but as many people commented in October, the two Stafford shows seem to be coming closer in content. I think we should take the opportunity to have a small club stand at this event, if only to gain a fistful of free weekend passes and the like.

I will reply saying that we would like to attend and I will say that we will bring 6 bikes.

Anyone keen to come along? As long as we get a few helpers the other tickets can go to TCers who can use the stand as the basis for a weekend's autojumbling, etc.

Good good, cheers guys

Any more? What it entails is turning up either friday afternoon or early Saturday and putting your bike on the stand. Then you will have to pitch a tent/park a van on the field. You get to spend two days at the show for free. There are bars open on site on Friday and Saturday evenings and Stafford is but a taxi-ride away.  The organisers are pretty strict now about keeping bikes on the stand until Sunday, but with enough warning bikes can be taken off on Saturday evening if you can only manage to bring it for one day.

As I said, once we have the bikes and owners sorted then any extra tickets can be offered out to club members and these people can just turn up and have fun.

I'll be there.  If it's warm enough, I may even bring the tent  ;)

The old bones don't like the cold any more...

I'll come as long as there is a fully delineated RS enclave......at the front! Is there a prize for club stands anymore?

Hi there
I have had a private invite to exhibit, but I would prefer to show my "new" SRX-4 Special on the club stand if possible but only if....

a) I finish it it time

b) You consider it good enough

c) You want it on there

I will do my utmost to finish it but may need a couple of parts/help just to finish off.

Ian  :)

Hmm, apparently it is 171 miles and a 3hr 10min from my house to the show ground.

I am cogitating on this one, and wondering if my tent is water proof still ;D

Me and my wilderbeast MT-03 are possible attendees

Hi, what are the people who are thinking of attending expected to do? Is it just a camping weekend? Or is more involved. It is just down the road from me so ideal for me to get there, but as i have only been to two "Rallies" so far i am still a bit of a newbie.......(be gentle with me!!!!) Its Sunday so can i be Sharon? (still have no idea what that is all about???)

It is very simple you just: turn up, put your tent up, talk bo88ocks, look at some bikes, drink some beer, look at more bikes, watch some cricket, drink more beer (possibly in Uttoxeter), talk even more bo88ocks, take you tent down, go home!

No pressure come and go as you please. Do what you want, when you want. There is no formal club display/stand, but having a laugh is obligatory*!

Boyd

PS Sharon is the alter-ego of one Bobby Gunsmoke (but only on Sundays), and by default the fantasy love interest of a certain Mr J Keenan Esq. - Possibly?

* unless it rains and/or snows, in which case I'll splash about a bit and go home in a strop.

Boyd, does this mean you have relented since Llanthony and you are going to camp again?

I think you've confused me with someone else.........I never talk bo88ocks. When I, sorry they, say "Uttoxeter" I, err they, mean it in the old Norse context of Stafford. Can anyone smell male bovine excrement again, or is it just me?

Boyd (think I got away with that one!)

I've carried 3 days holiday over from last year, so it's looking even more promising that I will be able to come to this show. :D Better start saving up the money for petrol, bacon butties, tea bags and anything else I may need...

I know they are not thumpers!!!

But Simon & I could bring our bikes & gear along to display if you like? (as a sideshow?)

We have had to put off departure for a few weeks, so would be available that weekend, just before our leaving date  (not set yet, but should be late May now!)

Sorry guys, I neglected to post the fact that we obviously didn't get a space at the show  :(

I sent off the forms straight after the October show but they didn't get back to me. Given the number of clubs that want to do the April show this isn't much of a surprise, but they could at least have contacted me.
