This may seem, and probably is, a daft question but after taking my srx4 for a spin tonight I spotted a flanged nut on the garage floor, ooooh -err ! it looks like it should fit on the LH [ as sat on the bike] end of the front wheel spindle, theres about 3 mm of thread on the spidle protruding through the fork leg which isnt enough for the nut to fit on, plus, Im not sure, but the thread size seems different although theres not enough to try the nut on properly. Should there be a retaining nut or is the spindle just held in place by the clamp bolt on the RH leg only ? If someone could have a quick look at theirs and let me know Id be grateful.
The spindle is in place bar-tight, by the way so its hard to imagine the nut has vibrated off, and if it had it wouldnt be on my garage floor.BUT Im far too young and lovely to hurt myself by means of a loose front wheel !!
Cheers,
Andy.

Worry not......that nut is certainly not from your front wheel spindle.....'cos it don't have one.....as you say, just done up tight and then the pinch bolt to keep it there.
can't think of anywhere else on the srx that a nut of that size might be used offhand...try checking all the engine mounting areas and the swingarm..........I did lose a very similar nut off my volvo the other week.......it could be that!....'cos when i drop stuff on my garage floor......they turn up in the most unexpected places......like the washing machine....in the chicken run (honestly)....dogs bed is also a place worth looking in

Cheers Steve, sorry, but its not the nut off your Volvo, its actually the retaining nut for the kickstart shaft,,,DOH !!, that makes more sense considering the amount of times ive bounced up and down on the thing, [ although it does start alot better for a carb clean these days ]. Once again, thanks for the help guys although in truth I should have thought of it myself. :-[
Best regards,
Andy.
