Title: MZ Tour wiring query??????
Post by: themoudie on March 28, 2009, 09:32:12 PM
Numpty here has removed the battery for charging and can replace the main negative and positive wires to the negative and positive terminals. ;D However, there is a brown (Br) wire which needs to be attached to a terminal and I haven't written down which one I removed it from! ::) :-[

I have looked for a wiring diagram, none for MZ ??? and looked at SZR660 wiring diagram for clues. On the SZR660, Br comes from main switch + positive feed to horn and lights and other ancillaries.

Which terminal do I attach the mystery Br wire to? ??? ???

Thank you for your time reading this.

My regards, Bill. :-[

Bill,

The brown wire appears to connect to the Negative terminal - according to the wiring diagrams in this website - http://www.sweller.co.uk/mz/mz_maindex.html.

Good luck.

Aye crackedhead,

Thank you for taking the time to post the URL. I should have been clearer in my request, I am looking for info about the Skorpian Tour, not the Saxon Tour.

However, the article on rejuvenating lead acid batteries on that site could be worth a try on some of the derelict items I have yet to take to the re-cycling dump!  :)

My regards, Bill.
Title: Re: MZ Tour wiring query?????? + more powerful battery option URL!

I have found this site with wiring diagrams as pdf's for the Baghira and the Mastiff. Both show the brown wire being lead to the negative terminal of the battery. I shall chance my arm! ;)

A more powerful battery option for the Skorpian and maybe other Yamaha 660 MuZ motorcycles is discussed at the following URL. :)

I hope you all have a chilled Sunday afternoon. ;D

My regards, Bill.

A mate of mine took the battery off his Baghira to charge it then couldn't remember which lead was which. He connected it the wrong way before realising his mistake,it now refuses to do anything so I guess something has gone pop somewhere. So it's brown for negative and black for positive then.

Aye Dave,

Caveat emptor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) But it would appear from the diagrams that I have given the URL for, that a brown and the main negative feed - (Black) from the battery connect to the negative terminal and the main positive feed + (Red) connects to the positive terminal.  :)

If I achieve a cooking smell, or dead electrics, I shall post here my 'Methodology'! :-[

My regards, Bill.

Hello Bill,

You get first refusal, as I've still got your puller!

I have found an airfilter I made for the Skorpion.  Its a K&N SRX panel filter, modified (ungracefully but effectively to go into the MZ Skorpion airbox (instructions on the MZOG yahoo list).

Want it.  If not, anyone else?  Could maybe even still be used as an SRX filter (tho you'd nead to make up the seal again).

No charge, even the postage!  Am feeling that I want to up my karma given the recent woe (and joy of aid!) with the van.

Cheers all, keep shiney side up!
