Sorry for the lack of pictures...
I purchased a rather tired looking XBR off Ebay for £230, basically checked it ran, then took it to bits.
All the extra brackets and mount points for all the road kit were chopped off and the frame powder coated. The forks have been rebuilt with new seals, the standard springs and a bit less airgap. The whole front end bolted on with nice new taper head races and a pair of Hagon 2810 shocks at the back.
I've put the standard clip-ons upside down under the top clamp.
There's a NTV650 front disk (same bolt pattern and dish as the XBR, just larger diameter) and we've made up an alloy calliper mount to use the standard calliper.
I've junked the leccy start and all the starter gearing.... I have an XL crank and fly wheel (w/o the starter drive gear, but I've not got round to fitting it yet and the mag cover from the XL.
The bore was treated to a hone and the piston some new rings. I replaced a slightly bent valve too.
I've some after market GB500 downpipes, no idea what make, but they're single walled and of a reasonable diameter, again an eBay find!
Theres a 41mm FCR flatslide which came off a KTM, the throttle pulley is too large to fit the carb on the original manifold as it catches the frame, so we've made up a 3 inch tube to extend the intake, I've no idea what effect this is going to have on the throttle response, etc..
I have some shorter valve guides and HD valve springs ready for when I get the cam reground.. if ever!
The bike is to race with the Earlystocks club in their single cylinder class, the bike has to be pre-1990, aircooled and twin shocked to qualify, with no after market bodywork, they also insist on only allowing twin piston callipers.
I got the engine oil tight yesterday and made up a race wiring loom (it's amazing how few wires it actually needs to run) and it barked into life after a half dozen kicks.
Still got loads of little bits to do before it's race ready, but I'm really looking forward to racing it, I've been racing a 1976 Aircooled RD250 for the last 3 years, so this should be interesting.
Regards
Giles

Are you running the stock piston and cam? I've just got my Earlystocks membership, still got the get the bike back up and running.

Yup, I've got the guides and springs to go more radical on the cam., but i've still got the stock grind in at the moment.
I'm sticking to standard capacity incase they decide to dump the single cylinder class, then i'll be competing with the 500's not the 750's.

Sorry about the quality, it's also far from finished, but you get the idea...

Still needs number boards and a few other bits and bobs to make it race legal.
