SWMBO's vw polo has started to leak fuel.....today i investigated and found it was coming from somewhere between the filler cap and the actual tank......after an hour and a half removing the crud of ages from around the filler pipe (very handily completely exposed in the offside wheel arch!!)
it looks like its leaking from the pipe about 6" from the tank, the pipe itself seems sound and solid elsewhere, although once the crud was removed and all cleaned up the leak got worse, but stops as the car is jacked up.....question is.....has anyone used Granville Petro Patch.....or Putty??.....all the blurb I've read seems to indicate it'll do the job.....I sodding well hope so......'cos if it doesn't....and i can't get a tank frop the scrappy......then i may as well dump the bluddy fing........!!

hi steve,
yeah, I've used PetroPatch on the bottom of an SRX tank. It was fine for 3 years, then I got rid of the tank. I also petsealed the inside mind...
Its just epoxy, which you soak some cottom mat in. Same idea as GRP, more or less.
Will do the trick at least for a while...
see you tomorrow (sun), bout lunchtime!

I've not tried it myself, but I've been told chewing gum is effective.
