Time to rebuild the XBR:
What type of grease do I need to use for the steering head bearings? Also what about the swing arm spindle/wheel bearings and stands?

Castrol LM is what I use for pretty much everything (except for the stuff that needs coppaslip or christolube natch, or petroleum jelly, or... oh h**l, I'll just shut up now ::) ) lol

Aye, same here, but recently acquired ACF50 grease which is a pale duck egg blue and definitely lasts better in the head bearings with no 'wash out' due to water and detergent. Used to use a Castrol molybdemum grease on most of the low pressure bearings in case they went a bit dry!
If you require some dry lube pay a locksmith a visit and buy a tube of graphite granules/powder for lubricating locks, works a treat with no gummy residue.
Regards, Bill.

I've got a big tin of grease with 'GREASE' written on it. I use it for everything. Dunno what it is, it's greasy though.
I use graphite on my guitar tuners and bridge. Works a treat, stops them pinging when you're trying to tune up. It's good on metal zips too.
