Post by: srx6 on March 31, 2008, 08:00:58 AM
What can i use to keep the heat from the exhaust from melting the underside of my seat.I have fitted a CBR underseat exhaust to my XLV (will send a photo)but  it is close to the seat.I need to protect the seat and other bits but am tight on space.

Thanks

Hi Al

Race-type heat shield tape, the type of which goes inside fairings etc??  Just an idea.

Not got any, but could possibly pick some up at a race meet from one of the big suppliers' truck-shop doo-dahs...

There is some stuff available that is a very flexible woven stocking. Don't have a clue what its made from but it stops heat transfer very well. The only place I could point you to to obtain is Thermoking Transport refrigeration. They use it on the engine exhausts.
