hi i wonder if anybody knows where i could buy a 33 tooth rear sprocket for my xbr  and has anyone tryedthis mod to the gearing thanks guys yoshi  ,,dublin

B&C Express will almost certainly be able to make you one for less than £30.

I've only gone the other way because I haul a sidecar around so I've got no idea how well they respond to being geared higher. Are you able to redline yours in top then?

There was an article in motorcycle sport & leisure about a group of GB500 owners in Yorkshire who all reckoned that a 33 back sprocket gave 'a more relaxed ride and makes all of the gears more useable on the road'.  Can't say that I've had much problem with the standard set upon a solo bike, but as GC says, B&C are probably you're best bet.  I'd be interested to know what it's like.

I always thought the XBR cluster was superb for scratching, with nicely spaced ratios and whatnot.

I'd be interested to hear how it works with the taller gearing. I'm not sure you could always keep the motor on the boil though when pressing on.

I ran my xbr with a 32 tooth sprocket with no problems, could still pull away in second.Better fuel consumption and motorways become a little more bearable.Have a 33 tooth sprocket to fit when a get round to it, got it from sprockets unlimited.

Not better consumption around town though surely?

I can understand higher gearing if you use the bike for long commutes or sunday blasts, but for the use my bike gets (in city traffic all day every day) I suspect higher gearing could only dent my already pisspoor consumption. Mind you the 200lbs of builders kit in the sidecar doesn't help  ;)
