It will cost £3.50 per tent per night (payable at the venue, there will be NO pre-booking). The site has showers and toilets and has been used as a Rally venue by other motorcycle clubs. There are two pubs about ten minutes walk away in Weston-on-Trent. As per previous years, there will be some sort of hot meal for the Friday night.
The rally site has plenty of space, and I think we will possibly be the only people there. If you could let me know if you (and spouses, friends etc.) are coming, either by replying here or by e-mail, it will make it easier to organise things.

Hmm,the rally is about 20 miles up the road from me but it's the wifes birthday that weekend,it's not looking hopeful.
-
Damn - I'd love to come...
But as I'm still not formally a member, despite over six months of sending money, writing endless e-mails, and getting broken promises back about "I'll post your membership/badges/etc to you..." - I guess that I'm just not welcome...
Must be just one of those boy's clubs that won't let the girls play....
I've given up trying....
Going off to join a real bike club that actually wants me as a member....
-
Unfortunately I think that may be the weekend I go away for a week, I'll have to check.

BlueLady, don't give up on us. I am sure you would recieve a very warm welcome at the Rally. Our committee also have very busy home lives and we are still, I think, short of a Membership Secretary. I think I should throw my cap in the ring to help out as I get immense pleasure from the TC without putting all that much back.
-
To BlueLady and all other potential visitors I second Bill's reply. At the moment I'm not sure there are any official members, so don't feel left out. The Annual Rally has always been a very good social occasion and a chance to meet fellow bikers and singles enthusiasts. You don't have to come for the whole weekend and if you are local just pop in to say "Hello!".
Similar to last year I have investigated a number of places of interest that we could visit during Saturday. At the moment these are looking like: the Grand Prix Museum at Donington Park (6 miles), Charnwood Classic Motorcycles (Enfield and sidecar specialists) (20 miles) and Bosworth Field (a new museum on the site of the famous 13C battle, near Mallory Park) (35 miles). But this is not set-in-stone and advice can be given if you want to plan your own route.
So don't be shy and try to make it to the Thumper Clubs annual gathering this June.

I would second/third that. Its nothing personal were just disorganised at the moment. So membership is a bit optional at the moment untill the membership secretary post is sorted out.
-
Subject to fire or flood I intend to be there 8)
As the others have said Bluelady, you are, and will be more than welcome there, give it a try, drop in and see if you can put the right faces to the names... :o ;D
-
There's hope for me yet then. Pity the events can't be closer to home. I would like to meet you all but I'm not really a great swimmer!.
Maybe I can get an invite if I offer some roo steaks!
-
I'll be there on the friday.
-
BlueLady - dont take it personally, we are short a membership sec and GC - chairman - is doing his best. I can vouch for the fact that he is a really nice guy, but if his wife did not check him over before he left the house in the morning he would probably spend the day in his PJs and not really notice. SO expecting him to do all of this and look after his kids, run a business, ignore my emails offering him money etc is probably expecting too much.
AS to wanting you as a member - we do. Simple as that.
Please stay about and paly - it would be nice to have some civilised conversation...

I'll be there, as long as the old XBR will make the trip from Edinburgh!
-
I wont be there this year !
As it is the 60th anniversary of the Land Rover will be taking my Old Man to a Landy show instead.
The guy that did the chassis job etc. for us has requested that we turn up ! In no uncertain terms.
It seems ours is one of about 100 that left the factory as a 88"CSW in Russet Brown.
So have a good time guys.

Good Morning
Stupidly I am going on holiday today (Thursday 19 June) until next Thursday (26 June). This obviously means that I will be cramming all the last minute stuff for the Annual Rally - putting signs up, cooking the food for the evening meal, sorting my gear out etc., etc. - into the few hours of access before 12.30 on Friday 27 June. What a dope!
If you have any burning queries about the Rally, that can't be answered by others on this forum, drop me a line on: 07971-051266. If you can leave a text or message I'll get back to you asap.
After I've sent this I won't have access to this forum :'(
See you soon...............
