See, I didn't make it all up! To quote from Max Boyce, "I was there!".

The guy on the solo at the beginning was going a lot more confidently than I was! He'd have run out of film if I was being filmed! I'll probably modify some car snowchains to fit the DR for next time. Having borrowed some (from Johann who shot the video) to put on the rear tyre to finish the last quarter up to the campsite, it made heck of a difference.

Although it was deemed to be an easy year, I gather it is the first time the ice had been that bad on the road. Although it was certainly below freezing overnight (and possibly in the day) I'll admit it wasn't as cold as I was expecting it to be.

In the video that was me taping up my broken tail light (well, it had popped out and I wasn't taking any chances) and rear indicator. The wind was gusting and unbelievably strong. It was Sod's Law that having being stood on it's side stand all weekend, the DR gets blown over as I'm packing up my things on the Sunday morning! I'll know better next time to make sure the bike's more secure!

Here's another video showing the run from the toll booth to the very top:

I'd better get myself on the invite list for next year!

Did that translate into "sh*t camera", by any chance?

BTW, what's with the SHOUTING? Is your caps lock stuck?  ;)

Although it looks pretty idyllic in most of those shots, I'm assured it wasn't as warm as it appears.

APPARENTLY IT WAS VERY EASY THIS YEAR ACCORDING TO MY MATE RICHARD

How hard a rally must it be when -10 degrees is easy! :o

How flipping cold is it normally then? Brrrrrrrr.....  :)
