My brother is getting my Dragon ticket for me... but still hasn't sent off yet  :-\

I intend staying at the Glan Aber, but probably in a room with my fragrant young rent boy, Simon Morgan. Yes, we do indeed snore for Wales  ::)

My ticket has arrived and Simon and I are booked (along with my brother and Liz) in a hotel, just up the road from the Glan Aber hotel in Betws y Coed, on the Friday night. We looked at the Glan Aber but they said the rooms were about £42 pp  :o

The plan for our crowd is to forego the Thursday departure of last year and instead have a curry night here in Cardiff with anyone who wants to meet up on the Thursday. Visitors can crash at one of three houses. Then it will be an early Friday departure with the Cafe near Llanidloes as our first destination.

Anyone fancy a curry in Cardiff on the Thursday?

Cheers

Subject to any number of caveats, count me in. Could add a whole new aspect to the Dragon,

That's what I've been trying to do for years now, just to add something else to the weekend. We started off going up on Saturday morning, getting to the rally mid-afternoon if we were lucky. Then we started leaving on Friday and breaking the trip in mid wales with a B&B. Next progression was going to Betws on the Friday. Then a couple of years ago, five of us left after work on Thursday and headed for a B&B in Rhayader and then on to another in Betws y Coed on the Friday.

Keep trying new stuff, that's my motto.

Having changed our plans and booked bunks in Llanberis for the Friday, my brother decided to chase up the deposits for our rooms in Betws. He'd spoken to the landlord before cancelling and it seemed all was well. However, when ringing this time he was told the deposits were non-refundable  >:(

A fair bit of chat followed and the guy eventually gave in. It remains to see if he keeps his word.

Grrr

Not Too Sure if I can manage this years Dragon....due to recent events !

Going to try and get the chair sorted...or at least useable for the weekend.
But that will mean an MOT,so it will have to be relatively tidy.....ish ! ;)

Shall have to see how things go.

Ahh...admit it, you love it when Jules gets all masterful and violent with you :P

Jules, I was "planning" on coming - where's Whitchurch anyway? Isn't that in Shropshire? I thought the curry thing was going to be in Cardiff? Besides I have to come; if I don't, who will you have to take the piss out of ehh?

All this assumes that the weather is nice, I am feeling well, the bike is working, and I don't get a better offer.

Loads of room at the Castle Carrick. I think I mentioned that in earlier posts, but to reiterate, anyone who wants to come along to the pre-Dragon curry night in Whitchurch (Cardiff) is welcome to crash at my place. Simon Morgan has already bagged a bunk.

Cheers

Anyone up for a fancy dress theme this year? (after last years astounding success).

The proposed theme (worked out in pubs with various interested parties) is 70s and/or disco.

Let me know if it's a winner  :)

Rob G and I kicked around a few ideas, the first one was WW1 flying aces, but because so many people said "what do they look like?" we realised it was a bad choice. The 70s theme was chosen as our plan B, but take up is poor so imho it's a no-go.

Spoke to Steve D on't phone last night and he's not keen either.

Flying ace idea is easy for us sidecarists who've got fold up gear for unexpected passengers. Swedish/ Russian tank helmets and goggles run to about £35, the rest is just bike gear. Not so easy for the solo-ists who have no other use for it.

How about a simple repeat of last year? It's out of pure self interest as my smoking cap still only gets used in the house (didn't get out of Yorkshire last Feb  :( )
