Tale of woe (actually idiocy!)
Today I changed the head gasket on the 750 Norton in preparation for the Manx GP (spectating only I may add). Last time I ran her, there was a suspicious weep from the head, and was getting difficult to start.
Solid copper gasket, £3.50. Sound!!
What wasn't at all sound was bolting the head down (and I was cursing Bert Hopwood for his very efficient and weep-free design) and then going to adjust the tappets. Only to find that one of the pushrods wasn't engaged with the ball end of the rocker.
OhYouF***inAbsoluteCu**......you get the message! All 10 fasteners back off (in sequence), and bolt it back down. And the norton twin head is a total faff (did I mention that)
Still, she was loud, and grunty, and only threw oil all over the road because I didn't tighten the oil feeds. The looks from my folks' neighbours as I run and leap on a few times was only surpassed by the foul glower from the old dear doing her flowers when she started!!!
(daylight) MOT tomorrow... Wish me luck!
cheers

Aye Andy,
That'll be a Kippen job and then a hurl over to Brig o Turk for a bowl a soup, black pudding roll and pot of tea in the wee cafe, before returning home. ;-)
All the best, my regards to the fairies please and a safe passage whilst your over.
Cheers, Bill.
