Title: Snip cut and paste
Post by: guest7 on August 22, 2006, 06:46:33 PM
This friday I have the dreaded 'snip' so the weekend will see a rare bout of enforced idleness.

I thought I could spend Sunday doing the club newsletter, therefore all adverts (bikes, bits, camping gear, riding clobber, etc.) articles and project updates to me pronto.

Cheers

Sorry to be boring, but I thought newsletter dates for publication were set at the meeting, and the next isn't due till end Sept :-? Obviously you can do what you like, but you've no chance of a project update at this short notice, let alone a wite-up on the end 2 end run.

Sorry

Its not as bad as its made out to be, uncomfortable and not to be repeated, but not too bad. And thats coming from someone who is terrified of needles. Oh and  they ply you with cups of tea after for a reason.

Chill GC, CHILL!

The shave at home before hand was more nerve racking and I would recomend a cheap set of electric hair/beard trimmers as a good investment.

Op was fine with two mature theatre sisters assisting the part time surgeon and plenty of good banter! Despite the screen, I could watch everything in the theatre lamps chrome surround.

Worst bit was trying to push start the Cortina MKIII 2.0 estate after the battery went flat in the car park! :-? B***dy sore for 3 days after and tripping over a twig in mid gait through the wood was **************************! Others have declared the whole thing a doddle.

Should do wonders for that castrallto voice you wished for in the 80's ;-)

La, la...

Can't we do it for you at the next rally please.

We could raffle the right to wield the stanley knife.

What anaesthetic would you prefer ?

Evening GC,

Hope the John Wayne waddle is lessening and the wee fella hasn't been jumping about on your lap to often! Back to the DIY tomorrow?

Deep breathing.

It wasn't as bad as feared. The op was a doddle and because I followed all the advice (ice packs, etc) there was no swelling. However since then one of 'em is fine but the other is painful. I'll give it another day or two before deciding whether to go back to the doc.

Mind you I was helping to knock a wall down on Sunday so perhaps any pain is all my own fault.

Oooh - could confuse the fairer sex.  Was whacked in the knackers playing rugby and one swelled to the size of an orange.  OOoooocccccchhhhhhhh - mind the other was the size of a grapefruit and twice as painful, the guitarist from Budgie wasswollen and bent - and I passed out if I stood up fo rtoo long - ever tried to pee laying down - into the loo.  The Boss spoke to her sister (who is an A&E nurse) and was told all about torsion - where you spin one way and the bollox spin another and she (The Boss) offered her sister examination rights. (I could nt complain - even speaking made vibrations that hurt like eeeeeccccchhhhhhh) Thankfully SiL did not take up offer - but she did drop round with some 'slings' for them.  So I am hoping that the two bricks hurt less - GC? - coz I am on the waiting list...

HOwever we still ahve some bay windows in need of renovation and a bog that needs replacing and  and and and - so if you are back in commission I am looking for a quote... and not  (sucking on teeth) oooh I would not have done that...

I came home from work early yesterday because of the pain and had a long hot bath (and read Conrad's Heart of Darkness - bloody brilliant stuff). Then I spent the next few hours sat with an ice pack and lo, this morning I feel a lot better.

I suspect my return to boxer shorts (instead of tight pants) was too early.

To summarise (for all snip candidates):
Op - easy, very little pain except when they repeatedly inject your tubes
Post op - fine if you follow advice, take it easy, tight pants, ice packs
Three days later - don't accept an offer to help dismantle a stone wall with a sledge and pick
Four days later - ignore advice, keep wearing tight pants and applying ice as necessary, they said three days and it wasn't enough for me.

Once the pain is gone it will be on to stage two, the clearance sale of all unwanted stock. I have to deplete my store of sperm. There are two tests, one at four weeks and another at eight weeks (or thereabouts) to see if you have any of the little swimmers left. Technically the next few weeks should be the fun bit :-)

Cheers
