The front downtube on my XBR sidecar outfit has snapped clean through.
piss pants poo :-(

I had a rummage in the shed and I have found one good bare XBR frame to replace the snapped one. However it needed a session with a torch and an anvil to straighten out the rear of the frame.
I had bought this frame on Ebay and it looked great in the piccies. However, when I got there I could tell at a glance that it was bent. Mind you it only cost me £10 (plus £20 in petrol) and it's straight enough now so it wasn't a waste of money.
Next step is to fab up some brackets and mounts because this time I am going to hang the chair from a subframe instead of attaching directly to the bike frame. Then it will be off to a friendly welder with some biscuits in hand.
I've got three other XBR frames, but one cannot be used for sentimental reasons, another because it has been converted to accept a Bing carb and I am determined to rebuild the bike to see how it runs and the third because it has a whacking great hole in the front downtube (an XBR weakness).
Not to worry though, I've got another scrapper XBR arriving in a week or two. Mustn't let the stock levels drop eh?

In bike matters I am as devious as a politician and as careful as an Iraqi checkpoint guard. It will arrive via the rear lane and go into the back garage. It will sit there for some time before being moved, enough time for her to get used to seeing it around.
Having said that, I suspect she knows all my tricks but chooses the quiet life and ignores them.
