Title: Sachs Roadster 650

Does anyone have experience of the Sachs Roadster 650 single? It looks like a good bike - light, simple, with a good frame and suspension, but it seems to get panned in every review I can find. New ones are evidently discounted heavily, and it might be a good buy. Or it might not... Any opinions?

I know the engine is a good un !
Late DR650 motor with the gear driven balance shafts.

Bloody good motor,I expect the rest of the chassis would be preety good too.
As everybody else does bought in forks and brakes etc...

Wasn't it in the news a few weeks back that Sachs went bust? If I'm right their pension and warranty commitments were worth more than projected business. I'd take care if buying from a dealer that support is going to be there or all the parts are obtainable from other sources.

I think most spares will be easily obtained whatever happens to Sachs. I wouldn't worry too much about magazine reviews as most singles get short-shrift anyway unless it's a KTM or Husaberg etc. I don't suggest for one minute that the Roadster is cutting edge but it will "do what it says on the tin". You should be able to get a good late one too. Bargain biking indeed.

Martin, Three Cross M/cs in Dorset have two brand new Roadsters in stock for £2999. Eddy Wright in Leeds has an "03"-plater in stock-2 owners, 2400 miles, excellent codition with Scottoiler and screen for £1995. Go on, you know you want one. ;-)
