Title: Pegaso Cams
Post by: Jez F on May 22, 2007, 07:45:02 PM
Does anybody out there know of any supplier that does a slightly 'warmer' cam for the 650 Pegaso?
Cheers Jez

Depending where you are..

Joy Cams will be able to re-profile either your cam or a spare one - it may be a suck it and see on his part but with the experiance Phil has it will almost certainly be good.

Is the Pegaso a Rotax engine? (DOHC?)

Yes it's a Rotax, similar to BMW but with an extra valve. Loads of tuning goodies for the Beemer out there like 720 kits and the like but as far as I can tell, nowt for the Peg. I'll give Joy Eng. a try and go from there.

Ahh 5 valve head - that is it.  Are the barrels the same though?

From the pics that I've seen they look very similar, but knowing my luck they won't be anywhere near. I was thinking of the 720 route but haven't got that far with it. If any one has some good close up pics of the Beemer head and barrel and some measurements it might prove useful. This could prove to be expensive!!

Have you tried asking the Rotax man - http://www.rotax.co.uk/ - he has been pretty helpful to me on what I can and cannot do to my SOHC, even though I was only fishing.

Aye Jez,

I have a BMW F650 head bare at present and could do some measures for you.

Whilst the Pegaso has the 5 valves, I understand the BMW was purposely kept with 4 and includes an extra oil feed to the valves instead of the 5th valve. However, this maybe just balderdash!

If you need crankcase measures might be able to oblige there as well as there is a spare motor in a crate as well!

Cheers, Bill
