wow! 85bhp at 10,250 rpm .... now that's what you call a thumper ... i bet it will be eyewateringly expensive

About the same as a 500cc speedway engine...

true.... but if you ran the ducati on methanol it'd be putting out 100+ bhp prior to going pop  ;D

Also true! I went to a classic scramble a few years ago and there was a guy running a Jawa speedway engine in a Rickman frame. It sounded fantastic. I had a bit of a chat with him and iirc, he'd lowered the compression to run on petrol, but stated that the big gobs of torque still regularly ate the gearbox  ;D
