Title: Xbr balancer alignment holes

Hi all
Eventually in a position to close crankcase halves but aligning the balancer gear is a bit strange as the alignment holes are on lign with a tooth on both crank gear and balancer gear so closest I can get them is half a tooth out in either direction.... see piccies attached of both options
So which is It???

The manual only talks about punch marks for alignment. I've no direct experience.
