Got a slight problem, looked all over the forum but could not find an answer.
Iam fitting a new Mikuni 38 carb to my 1985 xbr 500.Unfortunately the control cables ,throttle, choke, enter the top of the carb. The rectifier sits right on the top where the cables go.Has anyone had experience,of this problem and where would you locate the rectifier and would the wirig need to be modified?

hi 500 tc i have done the same thing on a project but i not sure if you using a airbox as im not i made up some brackets to raise the rec a couple of mill and it just clears the carb top and you will have to file a little tunnel in the frame over the carb top for the cabel to have a clear run

ooops that photo came up by mistake it should have been of the carb

You should have no problems moving the rectifier, there should be enough slack on the cable to move it to behind the right hand side panel, you will have to make a mount for it with a bit of metal sheet, or you can make a pigtail extension to plug between the loom and the rectifier and then you can stick it anywhere

Keeping the faith, Tommy! 👍😎
500 T C - good luck with the R/R. If you don't do brackets, you might consider some quality hook and loop tape on the right side of the airbox if there's room. It's very strong if you clean the surfaces with acetone first.
