Aye Ian,

My apologies for making a mockery of your pain!

A lady on a genealogy group that I am part of has just had her hip replaced within 6 months of being diagnosed. Initially, she was going to wait for the NHS, but they suggested that it could anything between 18 months and 4 years before she might be operated upon!  :(  She was relegated to a wheel chair and this prompted her to elect to go private, hence the toot sweet op. So far, she is very pleased with the result and is driving herself along, with the intensive physiotherapy and walking that she needs to do to to build the muscle strength and mobility.

I hope that you are able to get sorted one way or another, sooner rather than later.

Thanks Bill, in fact I went down exactly the same route as your friend in September and the new hip is performing very well - but am waiting till warmer weather before testing it on the bike.......

Interesting that you mention intensive physio - I had that when I had a knee replacement 10 years ago but for the hip was advised that just moderate exercise was enough and this has proved to be the case with both the consultant and physio very pleased with my (well my joint's) progress.

I had my hip replaced in 2011,  I am waiting for a 10 year x ray and check.. feels fine

The fella in the photo (sorry if you know this already) is a chap called Henry Body and he has been racing the Douglas for years. I think his brother was called Fred and he used to race too.

As for worn body parts, I met with a surgeon last week to see if the muscle tear in my shoulder needs surgery. After some tests the doc seemed to me to be a perfect TC candidate as he told me he would review it in six weeks and I should spend those six weeks trying hard to really knacker my shoulder and if it survives we don't need to do anything, if not he will mend it! 'If it ain't broke fix it until it is' as someone famous on this forum says.
