Title: The sound of a Brit single
Post by: guest7 on May 09, 2007, 08:18:40 PM
See this film clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKyHmeMcBP4)

It sounds pants on the overrun, but it has that great BSA-on-the-edge-of-exploding noise the rest of the time.

Very industrial, ay? Reminds me of the pumps the council uses to drain flooded basements. They don't rev much compared to modern thumpers, do they?

Is it the wind in the mic or does it run really rough at 'speed'

i think most of the rough noise is wind on the mic, although 'unit' bsa singles came with a death rattle from new.
imagine being parted from your 'hard earned' to have a brand new bike that rattles like that; easy pickings when the japs came...
