Looks like Honda got it somewhere near right 👍...

I am really hoping that all the success persuades Honda to release a European model as I would love to buy one. Just goes to show that maybe people want something more basic and affordable than all of the other Japanese and European manufacturers are currently offering.

You're quite right Ian - other manufacturers seem to be very slow to learn the 'Enfield' lesson. You'd have thought that sales of Himmo's and Interceptors might have made the penny drop, but no.
I'm personally seriously thinking of part exing my newest Jawa for a Meteor in May...
-
The Meteor looks like a useful machine , but which colour ?
-
Red for me - they go faster as we all know! ;)
-
maybe the basic Yellow..

Which is why I am spraying my CBF red, that and the fact that I really want one of Guy Willison's CB1100RS54 models but haven't got £15,554.
The new Enfield does look good and hopefully they have made it more to European standards, which I believe is possible as they have certainly improved over the years. Other than a few early quality control issues the EFI is a much better bike than the old semi-unit Bullet.

Just shows there's still a market out there for the smaller stuff. I still think Triumph should have persevered with their Cub project a number of years ago - if it had been manufactured in Thailand or India the costs could probably have been kept relatively low. Who knows.
I would have thought they could find a little more HP in this day and age though - I know they have to contend with strict noise and emissions regulations nowadays but the power outputs are broadly similar to Jap 250 singles of the early 80s. I think the Himalayan (which I like) puts out around 24HP - something like 27-30hp should be attainable with decent torque. I think for most of us Thumper Fans top speed is pretty irrelevant. I'm quite happy if it sits comfortably at 65-70mph (and does 80+ mpg)

Yes, excellently put, I couldn’t agree with you more Tony 👍

I agree that RE fall short on the power scale. I have just been reading some reviews of the Honda CB300R as my son-in-law is looking at them. They put out 31bhp which is great, just about where my old A10 was and useable in modern conditions.
Interesting that in the owners reviews several of the people had swapped from big bikes, Harleys, Bonnies etc, and said they found the nimble handling and lightweight of the 300 to be really refreshing. Just shows that there is sometimes a difference between what you want and what you need. My mate has a 2019 Harley 1690 thingymabob but most often on Sunday mornings (when we are allowed) he turns up at the burger van on his Suzuki Burgman.
Funny lot.

theres quite a lot of anticipation online that honda might also bring the asia only ct125 to the uk like the old ct100 posty bike with an innova 125 motor fitted.
-
funny how tastes change though. i defy anybody not to look at the new 350 and not seee the lines of the 70's dull as ditchwater cd175/cd200 which is a bike so uninspiring that pople chose superdream 250s rather than thee cd. but now the styling is super retro.... go figure....
-
It is odd how tastes change with time. Perhaps people are reacting to the years of angular design that we have seen and want to get back to a rounder approach. Maybe there are a lot of older people being nostalgic and forgetting that the old CDs were as you say dull and overlooked. After all BSA Bantams are now classics instead of junk you couldn't give away so anything is possible.

Yep, as I've said before, take a look at the totally insane prices now being asked for old MZ's and Jawa's if you want to see the power of rose tinted glasses...
-
Couldn't agree more Pete. Some of the prices being asked now are more than all of the JAWAs, CZs and MZs I owned in the 70s and 80s put together, including the new ones I had! Shameful.
