Not a thumper but you have to see the ingenuity of this restoration........God knows where you would get half the chemicals involved and what the long term effects on you might be, but you have to admire the ingenuity!! :o :o :o :o

Aye Steve,
Sod the H&S when you make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, with a very nice paint job and then take it for a hurl in the snow! ;D Many would have mounted it on a plinth in the living room! :(
Get them out and about and I might try some of the alchemy myself! ::)
Good health, Bill

Video wouldn’t download for me yesterday evening, I’ll try again later 🤞

Very nice job. However, if you look at the way he's built (at least one of) the wheels, he has the rim rotated with respect to the hub - you can see far too much thread exposed on the spokes pointed in one direction. This means that (a) those spokes will not have enough thread contact to be safe and (b) the corresponding ones in the other direction will be protruding into the well.....

This is not just a restoration....Its an M and S restoration.

Fascinating! 👍 Good to see that proper paint stripper is available to some of the biking fraternity!

Wotcha.
It still is - this stuff does what Nitromors used to.
starchem synstryp . . . . . go on, Google it.
So far it's shifted everything I've tried it on.

Just ordered some - tired of taking hours not to have the paint shifted.

Only just seen this, but yep, StarChem Synstrip is the stuff. I had to tick a box to say it was for professional use only when I ordered it online. It contains the chemical (dichloromethane?) which the elf and safety police banned from consumer products. That's why all the paints strippers you can buy at DIY places are utter carp now...
