This is a long shot I know.I have acquired a job lot of pattern oil filters-some of which I know will fit my XBR500. There are some for the FT500 which look similar but my online enquiries are providing conflicting results as to compatibility.I don't suppose anyone has ever looked into this and knows the answer please?

Good morning xbally,
Link to HiFlo oil filters selection chart below:
HiFlo_Oil_Filters_chart (http://www.hiflofiltro.com/catalogue#search-results)
It would appear that the filter used on the FT500 is different from that used on the XBR500 models. The Champion, Halfrauds and M&P online catalogues are not very helpful, but a visit to Halfords to view their instore flip charts would be another way to find out, if you don't have a friendly motorcycle parts man locally! ;)
I find HiFlo filters with TUV approval work fine in the SRX's and the Honda Bros.
Good health, Bill

According to the HiFlow Catalogue (http://www.hiflofiltro.com/catalogue/model/321) , the XBR part no is HF112
The FT part is HFA1503 Here (http://www.hiflofiltro.com/catalogue/model/309)
I have used Hiflo for years with no problems. Hope this helps.

Well .... simply on the strength that I might possibly have free oil filters for life I’m going out right away..........to buy an FT500 😉😉👍

Well they must be out there somewhere Michael. Always liked to have one but the poor reputation of the electric start has put me off. I've been even more tempted by the few RS250 conversions with the FT engine-they look like the business. I think one of our Thumpeteers had one?Was it Rossco maybe IIRC?

Ah well wait until you see our RS250 xbr500 engined conversion. I’ll be on with it once I finally finish the tracker. So whatever you do don’t hold your breath 🤣🤣
Building it purely as a hillclimber, track bike. Something to have a laugh on

Sounds like a great idea.I'll be looking (and listening) out for you at Shelsley Walsh next year then..........
