Arrived rather Wet at Wetton for about four ish on the Friday afternoon after a good ride down. Crusty had already arrived and set up camp. I waited for about half an hour when Smoggs arrived and the rain stopped so we set about setting up team 'Shanty' town again.
Fettled Simons sidestand and chain and messed with suspension a bit!
Had an excellent meal of the usual steak and nibbles and Simon treated us to some of his 'travelled' beers! Simonm showed us how to meal from his stock of dried meals that have accompanied him around Europe!
Usual nights entertainment in the pub and afters around the charcoal burners with the usual suspects of the JD and Crusty's Bacardi!
A good nights sleep and a hearty breakfast saw Selina turn up to take charge of us and lead the trail rideout. We satrted off with some gentle trails which got progressively more challenging but no broken bits of bikes or bones!
Simon took it steady as his confidence increased...........
We all made it down that section in one piece and had a laugh at how I had told Crusty to hang on when his bike went down,............................I was trying to get my camera out!
Simons bike had obviously had a good battering on the rear brake and it showed! We or rather Selina managed to get the Onanist to find a bike place on the net and he managed to find a spot in Bakewell so we managed to get new pads sorted! Amazing on a Sat bank holiday!
Into Bakewell for a well earned Coffee.
We went for a stroll around the small motorcycle museum in the town centre and it has surely changed for the better with some excellent examples of old machinery and all working!
Selina left us just after and we did a small shop and returned to the site wher we had the usual good meal and a rather subdued evening (read I was absolutely fatigued!)
We did though manage to change the sidelights in the Tens for some LED's that Crusty had brought along mmmmmmm an exta 10 amps to play with!
Simon set off the next day in good spirits in good weather but Crusty and muself decided to go over to Wales. We packed up and just set off West as I did not have any maps available and we were having trouble finding decent charcoal.
We fueled up at a gas station and Crusty decided to check his tyre pressures. Fortunately a bit further down the road we pulled in to get some charcoal and a map only to find that he had left his wallet at the previous station. A quick dash back and it was still there on the air machine, lucky!
I was leading as we slowly progressed over to Wales, GPS on shortest route mode, when we came upon a small 'not suitable for moter vehicles' road and yes it really was, what with all the gear as well!
.........................................and with all that gear on the inevitable happened! I had to go back to Crusty who had fallen off his bike which was now wheels in the air and totally hilarious. I did help him up with it and we continued on our way to find an excellent site and set up again underneath a beautiful Oak tree.
We had a meal of what we were still carrying and then went to the pub, another shaky evening and despite an invitation to a lock in we went back to the site reasonably early and had a few night caps to finish off.
Up late ish and another excellent breakfast we broke camp and went our seperate ways. I arrived home mid afternoon and set about getting the gear off the bike and then to a local gas station to blast off the crud,,,,,,,,,,then an early night.
Roll on the next one!
